Gadjo Guitars: Sophisticated, passionate, and world class. Gypsy Jazz at its best.
The word Gadjo is a name gypsies have for non gypsies, but you wouldn’t know that these guys have nothing but the gypsy blood flowing through their veins. Gadjo Guitars is the coming together of three great Sydney musicians who share a love for good music, in particular the music of Django Reinhardt, the famous French gypsy who set the bar of guitar playing at an Everest like height back in the 1930s. The band comprises of Nigel Date and Cameron Jones on guitars and Stan Valacos on bass. Band members regularly perform together and separately with some of the best names in the local and international gypsy jazz scene including Ian Date, George Washingmachine, Ian Cooper, Daniel Weltlinger and Lollo Meier.

Gadjo Guitars are a vibrant, sparkling, swinging gypsy jazz trio. Full of good energy, humour and possessing a unique Australian flavour, they are guaranteed to create a wonderful atmosphere and leave you breathless, smiling and asking for more.

The band on the night will feature Cameron Jones & Morgan Haselden on guitars and Phoebie O’Shea on violin.

Paragon’s Chef David Povelsen spent his first 4 years working at Solitary which saw the restaurant maintain it’s coveted position as a ‘one hatter’ in the Good Food Guide. In 2007 David realised a chef’s dream when Solitary attained 2 hats and was one of only 2 two-hatted restaurants in the state.

We are delighted to be able to include David and his talented culinary skills in these unique experience events at the Historic Paragon Café.

The menu will be an alternate drop, unless guests advise the cafe of preferences prior to the evening of the event. Please note that vegetarian options are also available by prior order.

GEOFF TURNBULL at Station Bar & Woodfired Pizza, Katoomba, Blue Mountains.
Fri 13th Feb 2015 – FREE ENTRY!
National Album Launch “Alive In The Madhouse” Tour.

Dubbed the “next roots figurehead of Australia, Turnbull is individual, definitive and electrifying” Fasterlouder.

Geoff’s lap steel slide, acoustic tapping slide and mind rattling rhythm based acoustic has him titled as a captivator of audiences (Townsville bulletin) with a unique gift for music (Lismore Uni). His variation in styles, rhythm and attack provides a show that never fails to intrigue. Soothing melodies captivate the audience, raw but directed outbursts chill spines and eccentric rhythms inspire trancelike dance sessions. The use of multiple pickups allows eclectic effects to be layered over sensual acoustic sounds. Soulful vocals complement the music and top this unique performer’s act.

Geoff is touring his 6th solo record ‘Alive In The Madhouse’ and is one of Australia’s finest performers mixing Roots and Blues with Rock, Trance and Folk. Self produced and released through Repton Records, the new album has been received with critical acclaim.
After performing 1200 shows over the last 14 years and covering 200,000 kms in his transit van the new material shows this experience and reflects in his live performance.

On his travels Geoff has been awarded “Best New Talent” & “Best Male Vocalist” for Newcastle Blues Fest, and was also dubbed the “next roots figurehead of Australia” by fasterlouder in 2007.
He has performed at Peats Ridge Music festival, Festival of the Sun, Port Fairy Folk Festival, Nimbin Mardigrass, Day in the Vines, Open Arms Festival, Brisbane’s Urban Blues and Roots festival, Newcastle Blues Festival and Sounds on Sunset.
He has also played alongside acts such as Cog, Gotye, Lior, Ash Grunwald, The Mess Hall, Hatz Fitz, Kimbra, Vasco Era, The Rubens, Kingswood and Stonefield to name a few.

Reviewers have all noted the same explosive streak that sets Geoff apart from his predecessors.

“A raw talent with a unique gift for music” – SCU

“Mind Blowing. A one man hurricane” – Peats Ridge Music Festival

“1 man a zillion trillion sounds” – UQ QLD

“Individual, Definitive and Electrifying”
“Turnbull has more variation & the tendency towards the ferocious which John Butler & Rudd do not have making for a more interesting performance” – Fasterlouder

“Turnbull is certainly a musician who releases his demons in a subversive, energetic live performance” – Beat 2004.

“All in all Turnbull’s refreshing live approach imbues him with a spontaneity the didactic John Butler can only dream about” – Rave Mag 2004.
