Sat 27th Sept 2014 – FREE ENTRY!
The LACHY DOLEY GROUP
Special Guest Laura Zarb
KATOOMBA RSL CLUB
86 Lurline St, Katoomba, Blue Mountains, Australia

We are very excited to welcome Lachy Doley back to perform in full band mode at Katoomba RSL!

Dubbed the Jimi Hendrix of the Hammond Organ, a player who can pump, pamper and occasionally pound the most unbelievable sounds from a keyboard: sounds that are intense, ferocious and sometimes transcendent.
Lachy Doley’s keyboard has powered acts as diverse as Bernard Fanning, Jimmy Barnes, Powderfinger, The Beautiful Girls, Jimmy Little, and The Widowbirds. Now he has a second album with his own band – the Lachy Doley Group. The group’s second album “Singer Organ Soul” and new DVD “Live at 303” are some tasty slices of what the band sounds like live – pumping with energy and good times, and featuring both Lachy’s 1957 Hammond C3 organ and his custom-modified Hohner Whammy Clavinet – the only such machine in the country.

Lachy Doley’s group has played over 100 shows and festivals around Australia since the release of his first solo album in of “Singer Organ Soul” in 2011 including Queenscliff Music festival, Broadbeach Blues festival, Mojo Burning festival, Rock In The Vines festival and by popular demand are booked for the PEAK festival music and Broadbeach blues festival again this year.

In early 2013, Lachy was headhunted by Deep Purple’s Glenn Hughes to record a new version of “Highway Star” – a project designed as a tribute to Deep Purple’s legendary organ player Jon Lord who died last year. Alongside Lachy, the recording featured Glenn Hughes, Steve Vai and Red Hot Chilli Peppers drummer, Chad Smith. More recently he proved the hit of this year’s “Blues on Broadbeach Festival” in Queensland.

TOP 5 Career Highlights
1 – Playing the final ever Powderfinger gig
2 – Recording new version of HIGHWAY STAR with SteveVai, Chad Smith, Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple)
3 – Supporting Bruce Springsteen with Jimmy Barnes
4 – Staying in the top #4 of the Oz Blues and Roots airplay Charts for six months
5 – Screaming encore at Broadbeach Blues festival

“One of the greatest keyboard players of any generation” – Glenn Hughes (Deep {purple MK3)

This time the Honey Stompers shall be joined by bassist Stockings Martinez – combined with legendary blues drummer Cha Cha Martinez this possibly makes the only mother/daughter rhythm section on the Australian blues scene!!!

Blue Love Revue and their amped up, fuzz guitar, cigar throated howling songs about booze and madness will make you wish you had bourbon in your hand. And if you do, then it’s likely you’ll be howling right along with them.

The sound created from Andrew Rignold’s handmade, cigar-box guitar is raw but rich enough to drive a low dirty blues riff, Joe Breen’s vocals are as healing as the cut up hands of a carpenter, scratched up along some winding back road. Holding this madness together is Brad Kimber’s impeccable thumping drumming. If the Blue Mountains had a swamp where folk could brew moonshine and twang their geetars then that would be where these guys are from.

MOUNTAINS COMEDY MAYHEM OPENING NIGHT

Sat 5th SEPT 2014 – Mountains Comedy Mayhem Opening Night
Featuring Comedian Fiona O’Loughlin and more!
KATOOMBA RSL CLUB
86 Lurline St, Katoomba, Blue Mountains, Australia

The Joke’s On Me Presents – Mountains Comedy Mayhem – on the first Friday night of every month at Katoomba RSL.

Each night this show will bring together a smashing line up of famous names you know and others you’ll definitely want to remember! We’ve selected some of the best acts from around Australia to bring the most hilarious kind of mayhem to the heart of the Blue Mountains every month!

September 5th is when the laughs will start with a huge bang as the fantastic Fiona O’Loughlin is coming all the way from Melbourne to shower her comedy love all over Katoomba.

Fiona is the beloved ‘rough as guts’ darling of Australian comedy, originally hailing from Alice Springs, she has truly earned her place in lights today. In her act she covers everything life has thrown at her; motherhood (she has five kids…yes 5!), parenting foibles, battles with the bottle, along with so much more. She is truly an act everyone will be able to relate to.

On top of being an international award winning comic she is also a TV regular, having been on Talkin’ Bout Your Generation, Sunrise, Good News Weeks, Spicks & Specks, Celebrity Apprentice and just about every single Comedy Festival Gala televised in Australia.

In addition to Fiona we are bringing several more hilarious comics to your door including your Emcee for the night, Matty B – the self proclaimed ‘Philosophical Bogan’ which is aptly the name of his debut comedy album! He says, “You know you’re at least partially bogan when you have a ‘going out’ flannelette shirt.’ Matty originally hails from Newcastle so his comedy career grew from the toughest of audiences. He has some of the best jokes around, Tim Ferguson calls them ‘Absolute rockets’ and Mikey Robbins has dubbed Matty as one of the best rising comics Australia can look forward to.

Opening the show for Fiona we have two cracking local Sydney acts, the immensely affable Dane Hiser, who is a Sydney favourite of Fiona O’Loughlin, and the engaging Alex Wasiel who has just finished a critically acclaimed sell out season at the Sydney Comedy Festival in 2014. Both Dane and Alex have been rocking the Sydney, Melbourne & Adelaide comedy scenes for two years so we are excited for you to discover their hilarious greatness too!
Also joining the line up is the man whose cat is an instagram sensation – the hilarious Doug Suiter – Ostensibly a Standup Comedian.

The night contains a variety of acts but the laughs will all be the same – HUGE!

Come join us for a killer night of comedy! It’ll be the most fun abdominal work out you’ll ever do!

Doors Open 7pm. Show Starts 8pm.
This is a general admission theatre style seated show – seats are not allocated.
