Flats and Sharps are a high-energy contemporary Bluegrass band, from Penzance, Cornwall, in the South West of England, known for their own highly original songs as well as their blistering renditions of Bluegrass classics.

These four incredible young musicians honed their skills in hundreds of live performances over the past six years, charming and wowing audiences along the way. They’ve come a long way, from their humble beginning busking in Penzance as 17 year-olds, to performing at the Proms in Hyde Park, London, and at scores of festivals throughout the UK, Ireland, Europe and Australia.

On their first Australian tour in 2017, they delighted audiences at the National Folk Festival, Canberra and Fairbridge Music Festival, WA. They returned here in 2018, again playing the National Festival, plus the Blue Mountains Music Festival and an extensive NSW tour.
They have since been invited to the home of Bluegrass, the USA, to represent the UK in the International Bluegrass Music Association’s “World of Bluegrass” in September 2018.
In 2019 they have been invited back by the Fairbridge Festival in WA, where they’ll also play the Albany Festival before heading east to Victoria and NSW.

“Flats and Sharps performances at Fairbridge Festival were nothing short of sensational. The standard of musicianship, rapport with audience and high entertainment value gathered more and more momentum as they dug into the event. Their final performance to over 1000 people on the final gig was one of the festival’s most significant events in recent years. I wouldn’t hesitate to book this band again in the future.” – Rod Vervest (Fairbridge Festival Artistic Director)

“…effortlessly entertaining …sublime five-part harmonies …the pace of their performance is breathtaking – I recommend seeing Flats and Sharps at the earliest opportunity. If you can prove your disappointment, I’ll personally send you a cash refund.” – Mark Ellen (R2 Magazine)

Dave Graney and Clare Moore are back in 2019 with a new album called ZIPPA DEEDOO WHAT IS/WAS THAT/THIS?
It’s approximately their 30th (?) and is a killer set of rock music – made properly, like they’ve always done. It has “eight songs done thirteen ways” and ranges from pop gems like “Baby I wish I’d been a better pop star”, to their homage to Stones Lore in ULTRAKEEF, and then the 8 1/2 minute West Coast epic jam that is served up twice in “Is That What You Did?”.

They play music drawn from a lifetime in rock ’n’ roll culture. They didn’t learn their licks in school, they made their own mistakes and set up their own standards.
Whatever they do, whatever they play, they bring their ace game. Their primo strategies. Their stellar grooves and street wise lyrical fire.

Dave Graney was awarded ‘Best Male Vocalist’ at the ARIA Music Awards of 1996 for his work on The Soft ‘n’ Sexy Sound, while “Feelin’ Kinda Sporty” won ‘Best Video’ in 1997 and he has received seven other ARIA Award nominations.
