Nomadic Fish & Fusion Boutique Present ‘Metro Social’ with
DON McGLASHAN (NZ)
Live in Concert at the 1930’s Metropole Guesthouse.
Friday 26th October 2018, 6:30pm. Doors Open 5:30pm.
One of Aotearoa’s most beloved songwriters, Don McGlashan, has announced a return to Australia for 4 intimate shows in October.
Don McGlashan is one of New Zealand’s best known and loved songwriters. His career spans from the seminal post-pop-punk band Blam Blam Blam, to The Front Lawn (duo), to platinum selling and internationally recognised band The Mutton Birds. Their album “Envy Of Angels” made the UK Sunday Times ten best albums list. Since The Mutton Birds, this extraordinary crafter of song has made three acclaimed solo albums, “Warm Hand”, “Marvellous Year” and “Lucky Stars”. His 2006 gospel anthem “Bathe In The River” – sung by Hollie Smith, has become one of the biggest NZ singles of all time.
He delivers his songs – extraordinary tales of ordinary lives – with vulnerability, grace and hope, conjuring transcendent moments, navigating us through breath-taking beauty, the dark and the deep. McGlashan has worked with Paul Kelly, Crowded House, Johnny Marr, Wilco and members of Radiohead, scored many feature films including Jane Campion’s “An Angel At My Table”, received two Silver Scroll awards and five of his compositions are in APRA’s “100 Best NZ Songs of All Time”. His solo albums are rich collections of highly personal songs exploring love, regret and mortality, infused with optimism and deep joy.
During this tour of NZ and OZ, McGlashan will be performing recent songs, along with plenty of gems from his sprawling back catalogue, McGlashan will play a string of solo shows, joined on a handful of dates by legendary drummer / percussionist Chris O’Connor (Phoenix Foundation) to give you an up-close and unique concert experience.
