Black Friday at Katoomba RSL Club with Graveyard Train & Brothers Grim.

In retrospect it’s obvious that horror and country music go together like peas and carrots – it just took Graveyard Train to show us.

Utilising old timey instruments (banjo, dobro & washboard) with the unorthodox percussion of hammer & chain, all underneath a six part baritone ‘wall of men’ vocal delivery, Graveyard Train have created a unique sound and an equally unique way to deliver it.

Exclusively singing songs and stories about death, despair, vampires, werewolves and anything macabre, Graveyard Train have drawn on the storytelling styles of old folk songs and mashed it with a punk/rockabilly/country frenetic foot stomping energy to create ‘Horror Country’.

Over the past 3 years Graveyard Train have risen and risen in popularity. Though still underground, the band is well loved in Melbourne, selling out every local show for the past year to drunken sing-along crowds. They have toured solidly since day one, winning over crowds at festivals, major cities and regional towns, and have enjoyed huge success during their two stints at the Tamworth Country Music Festival.

“It’s a genius concept really: Graveyard Train have twisted folk, blues, roots, bluegrass and murder ballads into something quite original and immensely entertaining. Death and violence have never been so uproarious.” – René Schaefer, Mess + Noise

“Jump on board the Graveyard Train and see what has made them a hit from Tamworth to Edinburgh.” – Patrick Donovan, The Age ‘EG’ [4 Stars]

Favourites at this year’s Blue Mountains Music Festival Graveyard Train return by popular demand for a headlining show at the RSL Club. They will be supported by ‘Brothers Grim’

Brothers Grim are four Blues Hounds reviving 20’s blues, in an unwholesome, moon howling, sweat dripping, groin shaking fervor. It’s been loosely described as… “Unwholesome sex voodoo delta blues-a-billy” or “Howlin’ Wolf in an AC/DC T-shirt on too much cocaine”

The majority of their reputation is based on their mutation of the Blues with elements of Rockabilly, Swamp blues, Delta blues and Rock sensibilities… the rest is varying percentages of idol gossip, guilt, manic energy, slander, a fuel for freedom and a bias for doing things their own way.

The Brothers Grim are Blues like you’ve never seen!
