Tailor Birds, the creation of electric violinist Sophie Kinston, is dream folk music goodness, food for the soul, healing, transformative, sound immersion. Combining live looping, foley art, vocals, and now bringing in plant music as the backdrop of sound, this music is simply stunning, a break from the norm, a chance to breath. Telling tales of love, hopes, dreams, created out of the stories she hears from her time on the road, this unique solo show is a fresh return to live shows, bringing in the new 5 string custom built electric violin. Currently based in NSW, this unique solo show will be showcasing songs from the upcoming album, ‘Salt’, due for release later this year, this is a gig not to be missed, a chance to breath in the world of the Tailor Birds.

Emily Adele Williams is a cello player and improviser performing on amplified/effected cello using various effect pedals, cello percussion, and sampled sounds to multi layer her music which can be described as ambient, drone-like with atmospheric soundscapes. Emily has collaborated on a number of musical projects over her career and and has a solo cello project ‘Night Diver‘ and duo ‘Au Revoir Hands‘ with composer and buchla musician Anthony Lyons.

Night Diver is Emily’s solo music project. Her main instrument remains at the centre, augmented by sounds of sampled glass, steel & kinetic toys pitched & percussive.
The multiple layers of cello and shimmering electronics are slowly interwoven evoking anticipation, longing & stillness.
The music is emotionally charged with revolving arpeggios which drift around a motif of atmospheric, low end drone-like ambience, disquieting moody melodies & airy experimental minimalism.

The music blends broad musical styles from modern classical, post minimalist, electronic and experimental avant pop mixing influences from contemporary music creating a wide spectrum of sounds from her instrument from intimate simplicity to atmospheric soundscapes and making full use of technology using her laptop and effected amplified Cello. Her compositions reveal a passion and a deep understanding of classical music rules and most importantly a willingness to subvert them to create lush and breathtaking musical landscapes” – The Age

A yodellin´, thigh slappin’, lederhosen wettin´ fest of German music from The Beez’ Deta (accordion, vocals) and Rob (guitar, vocals) featuring the Beatific Beats of Julia Day on drums.

You’ll thrill to comic classics from the likes of Rammstein and Kraftwerk; you’ll tear off that dirndl and shake a Teutonic Tailfeather when you catch a glimpse of Nena´s 99 Red Balloons; you’ll swoon to Marlene Dietrich´s Lili Marlene, but wait, that´s not all!

Now those Testy Teutons have their sights set on the rich treasury of Oz Rock. As polka. In German. Wince as Aussie classics are put through the Sauerkraut mincer! Cover your ears as the likes of Barnsey and Farnsy are blitzed into polka oblivion! In The Sauerkrauts own words- “If you´re not a polka fan it’s looking really bad, ´cause this might be the longest evening you have ever had”. The Last Plane Out of Sydney´s almost gone but, regrettably, The Sauerkrauts are not on board.

Deta and Rob always felt that the German Oeuvre was a little under represented in today´s musical landscape, so here they are to make amends with an evening of dance floor-compatible Deutsche Derring-do, featuring Deta´s fabulous “Brunhilde Bass“ accordion. One octave below the conventional accordion bass, this is an Alp-quaking tone of Wagnerian proportions. Melded with Rob´s custom Höfner “Blitzkrieg“ guitar and Julia Day´s Germanic Grooves it´s an irresistible rockin’ polka machine.

Deta and Rob both hail from Berlin; their band The Beez performs regularly throughout Europe and Australia. They´ve appeared on ABC TV´s Spicks and Specks and every folk festival you care to think of.

• Guests must check in via the Service NSW QR Code.
• Only fully vaccinated patrons over 16 will initially be able to enter before 1st Dec (or until further changes are made). Children under the eligible age for vaccination will be permitted but must be accompanied by a vaccinated guardian.
• Masks must be worn inside (unless eating or drinking).
• No singing indoors (except for performers).
• The venue will be operating under capacity restrictions – one person per 4sqm inside.
Restaurant bookings will be capped at groups of 20.

Midnight Tea Party are a 5 piece Gypsy Dub band hailing from Sydney’s Inner West. Blending the hypnotic melodies of the Balkans with EDM, Jazz and Surf-Rock, they deliver a live set packed with party vibes.
The band’s new single “Boris The Blade” is a high energy, dancehall banger blending sub bass with Balkan brass and a psychedelic Surf-Rock guitar solo. This unique fusion of styles has been described by Happy Mag as “one of the most dynamic listening experiences we’ve come across in some time”.
Since the release of their album “Massilia” in 2018 Midnight Tea Party have played festivals such as Woodford Folk Festival, Bellingen Winter Music and Gumball as well as touring up and down the east coast of Australia. Their dynamic live sets combining exquisite musicianship with party vibes is proving to be irresistible with dancing audiences.

Even though the annual Winter Magic Festival isn’t proceeding as “normal” this year, that doesn’t mean that we can’t conjure up a bit of magic and fun of our own!
