Known for presenting unique and talented acts to the Blue Mountains over the last 12 years, Fusion Boutique is pleased to be working with The Bootlegger again to bring the upper mountains even more quality live music at Katoomba’s hottest new live music restaurant and bar.
Bootleggers is a place of good old fashioned fun where people can eat, meet and greet and be human again.
Whisky, Gin, Cocktails & Good Food – low and slow and vegetarian options available.

Bootlegger Bar is 2 levels. The free live music from 9pm upstairs with ‘The Sauerkrauts / The Beez’ is open entry but extremely restricted to attendee numbers present at the time to adhere to the social distancing requirements.

A yodellin´, thigh slappin’, lederhosen wettin´ fest of German music from The Beez’ Deta (accordion, vocals) and Rob (guitar, vocals) featuring the Beatific Beats of Julia Day on drums.

You’ll thrill to comic classics from the likes of Rammstein and Kraftwerk; you’ll tear off that dirndl and shake a Teutonic Tailfeather when you catch a glimpse of Nena´s 99 Red Balloons; you’ll swoon to Marlene Dietrich´s Lili Marlene, but wait, that´s not all!

Now those Testy Teutons have their sights set on the rich treasury of Oz Rock. As polka. In German. Wince as Aussie classics are put through the Sauerkraut mincer! Cover your ears as the likes of Barnsey and Farnsy are blitzed into polka oblivion! In The Sauerkrauts own words- “If you´re not a polka fan it’s looking really bad, ´cause this might be the longest evening you have ever had”. The Last Plane Out of Sydney´s almost gone but, regrettably, The Sauerkrauts are not on board.

Deta and Rob always felt that the German Oeuvre was a little under represented in today´s musical landscape, so here they are to make amends with an evening of dance floor-compatible Deutsche Derring-do, featuring Deta´s fabulous “Brunhilde Bass“ accordion. One octave below the conventional accordion bass, this is an Alp-quaking tone of Wagnerian proportions. Melded with Rob´s custom Höfner “Blitzkrieg“ guitar and Julia Day´s Germanic Grooves it´s an irresistible rockin’ polka machine.

Deta and Rob both hail from Berlin; their band The Beez performs regularly throughout Europe and Australia. They´ve appeared on ABC TV´s Spicks and Specks and every folk festival you care to think of.

Please note that at the time of this event Bootlegger Bar will be subject to certain rules as directed under the Public Health Order:
• Guests must check in via the Service NSW QR Code.
• Only fully vaccinated patrons over 16 will initially be able to enter before 1st Dec (or until further changes are made). Children under the eligible age for vaccination will be permitted but must be accompanied by a vaccinated guardian.
• Masks must be worn inside (unless eating or drinking).
• No singing indoors (except for performers).
• The venue will be operating under capacity restrictions – one person per 4sqm inside.
Restaurant bookings will be capped at groups of 20.

Please remember as you prepare your return to venues, that the measures above have been put into place by the NSW Government to assure all our safety and staff are only doing their job as they try to follow these rules. THE SAUERKRAUTS (Rob & Deta Rayner from THE BEEZ) – Germany live in Concert at the 1930’s Metropole Guesthouse.

Sunday 30th April 2017, 6pm. Doors Open 5pm.

A yodellin´, thigh slappin’, lederhosen wettin´ fest of German music from Deta (accordion, vocals) and Rob (guitar, vocals) and featuring the Beatific Beats of their Bavarian Boombox. You´ll thrill to comic classics from the likes of Rammstein and Kraftwerk; you´ll tear off that dirndl and shake a Teutonic Tailfeather when you catch a glimpse of Nena´s 99 Red Balloons; you´ll swoon to Marlene Dietrich´s Lili Marlene but, most of all, you´ll be entertained – and that´s an order!

One octave below the conventional accordion bass, this is an Alp-quaking tone of Wagnerian proportions. Melded with Rob´s custom Höfner “Blitzkrieg“ guitar, it´s an irresistible rockin´ Polka machine held together by the marching rhythms of a loop machine by the name of Wolfgang Amadeus and, of course, those gorgeous harmonies and cabaret sensibilities which are the icing on the Schwarwälderkirschtorte.

The Sauerkrauts will be touring Australia from January to May 2017.

‘METRO SOCIAL’ Metropole Guesthouse Lounge Upstairs (lift available) Cnr of Lurline and Gang Gang Streets, Katoomba, Blue Mountains NSW 2780.
Opposite the Katoomba train station.
There is limited parking available at the rear of the property. Access can be made through the rear and the lift to the lounge is in the atrium.
If entering from the front the cocktail bar/restaurant is on the right and access to the upstairs performance space in the lounge is up the stairs or via the lift towards the back of the hotel.

The Metropole is a family friendly venue!
*Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and supervised.
Children do require a ticket for entry.

There is also a retro cocktail bar downstairs and drinks and light meals will be available from the Metro Retro pop up bar upstairs once doors open.
