Daniel Aaron is an indie-roots outfit of one – soulful, bare-footed, multi-instrumental. He’s got groove tighter than the federal climate budget, rhythm raucous enough for the toilet paper aisle mid-lockdown and style harder to pin than a chip packet in the wind. Centred in earnest lyricism and the rhythm of the yidaki (didgeridoo), Daniel’s songs will have you doting on beloved people, revering the landscape, and dancing with zest.

With the release of his debut single ‘Running Backwards’ in 2018, an indie pop track, Daniel has been cast into view of the Australian public after winning the Triple J Unearthed competition to be featured on the lineup of Australia’s biggest regional festival, Groovin The Moo, among acts like Paul Kelly, Royal Blood, Ball Park Music and more.|

Following his GTM performance, Daniel bunkered down over the course of the last 3 years to work meticulously on a captivating debut album. With exceptional collaborations, poetic themes and stunning production Daniel Aaron’s recently released, self-titled debut album is a work of art, set to leave a lasting impact on listeners.

Migret is an indie-electronica band from Sydney, Australia, that formed in 2019. The band is made up of Argentinan-born couple Betsy and Fran.
They released their first studio album in 2019 entitled “Un monton de casas” that was released independently by the band (currently sold out).
After a successful tour of their home country and a few single releases, the band is now building their home on wheels with the intentions to travel around the island.
Intimate compositions and a delicate voice that does not elude emotionality. All wrapped in an intimate atmosphere with guitar delays, ambient synths and minimalist sequences.

This highly engaging duo features the hypnotically resonant voice of Rory Ellis, in turn, playing all things acoustic and joined by virtuoso Chromatic and Diatonic Harmonica player Christian Marsh.
Together they create haunting, gutsy, and inspired versions of hand-picked gems from Rory’s last 10 media acclaimed albums.

Rory has performed extensively at major venues and festivals here and abroad alongside greats such as Robert Cray, Richie Havens, Canned Heat, Charlie Mussellwhite, Eric Bibb, even Pokey La Farge.
Some festivals include, Isle Of Wight Festival UK, Maryport Blues Festival UK, Shetland Folk Festival UK, Castel St Pietro Blues Festival IT, Celle Festival DE, Thredbo Blues Festival AU, Port Fairy Folk Festival AU, National Folk Festival AU, the list goes on.

Christian is a world renowned master of the Chromatic and Diatonic Harmonica having won “Gold Harmonica Awards in Tamworth 3 times worked alongside harmonica giants such as Howard Levy, Larry Adler, Toots Theilemans and featured on many high profile Australian and International artists albums and stages.

Most recently Rory and Christian performed at the Blue Mountains Music Festival 2022, Bells Line Festival 2022 and Thredbo Blues Festival 2023 for the second year in a row and are currently engaged to perform at the Sydney Folk Festival in August 2023.

Tim Scanlan on one-man band duties – Quebecois foot percussion in between bass drum and hi-hats, guitar, voice and harmonica. Lots of effects pedals will be joined by Mana Okubo of John John Festival fame on fiddle and they are including the Blue Mountains on their run to perform at the 2024 Illawarra Folk Festival.

A message they received after playing the Star of the West pub, Sunday night during the Port Fairy folk fest – “I have to say that you and your band were the most organic, magical act I have ever heard.”
Ancient tunes gets the tingles in the body going!
This duo plays a mix of original and traditional folk using guitar, fiddle, and lots of foot percussion and effects. They have just finished a 3 month tour of Europe and Japan, and are now based in Melbourne.

Catherine Traicos is a classically-trained pianist, self-taught guitarist, and visual artist hailing from Perth via Zimbabwe. She has also been known to haunt the cobblestoned backstreets of Melbourne, the picture-postcard city sunsets of Sydney, and the charming parks of Adelaide.
A critically acclaimed singer-songwriter, Catherine Traicos has graced the diverse stages of Nashville’s iconic Bluebird Cafe, The Sydney Opera House Concert Hall, the Quarry Amphitheatre in Perth and the Junkyard in Maitland.

Catherine’s passion for songwriting and her determination and commitment to music have seen her play International Arts Festivals around Australia, as well as appear overseas at the Americana Festival and the Live at Heart Festival in Sweden. Catherine has supported significant musical acts including Beth Orton, the Mountain Goats, Dirty Projectors, Rob Snarski, Simone Felice and Spiral Stairs. Catherine’s work has been lauded by Rolling Stone Magazine, the Age, the Sydney Morning Herald, and she was named Unpaved’s Female Artist of the Year (2012).

Catherine worked relentlessly through the pandemic, releasing a distance recorded double A side 7” record (Love Hz and Analog Heart Studios), an ep ‘Choose Your Own Light’ (Tiny Music Studios), culminating in recording a full length distance album, ‘The Nashville Record’ (out on August 25, 2023) in both Perth and Nashville. This was completed at The Doghouse Studios, where the likes of Dolly Parton and Alison Krauss have recorded. She swiftly followed this up with a new cycle of songs recorded with Anna Laverty in Perth earlier this year. Catherine is now set to release two studio albums within the space of a year. As well as this, she has engaged with the songwriting community in Perth through the APRA 321 sessions and also through the WOMPP (Women of Music Production Perth) music camp where she was one of a select few chosen to collaborate with Stella Donnelly, Jaguar Jonze and Sparrows.

Soaring on the back of strong yet vulnerable vocals, Catherine’s work is raw and emotive, strikingly melodic and a perfect hybrid of the personal and professional craft of a unique voice in Australian music.

After spending years in a musical wasteland, Mandy Hawkes began to write songs again, and became preoccupied with singing about mortality, end times and other serious themes. Raised on a steady diet of Hymns and Dylan, Mandy’s unconventional voice is equal parts weary soul traveller and folk storyteller. She sings authentic songs that will move even the stoniest of hearts, marrying folk traditions with Australian country.

In 2017 she released her debut EP The Water Was Deep, a collection of songs contemplating death, afterlife and Hawkes’ religious upbringing – recorded and co-produced with Bill Chambers at Chambers Avenue Studio. 2023 hails the release of the Northern Rivers folksinger’s debut full length album We Were Just Kids, recorded and co-produced with Jordan Power. This body of work exhibits more mature songwriting and diverse sounds, yet maintains Hawkes’ deeply personal and authentic narratives. It charts a path through the various stages of relationship breakdown and grief, with some reflections on childhood and the human condition.

Les Thomas is a Truth-telling troubadour sharing stories and songs to move, enlighten and inspire.

Les Thomas is the champion of generations of Melbourne songwriters through his renowned Unpaved Songwriter Sessions. And the passion he brings to writing and presenting the songs of our times is an experience you will feel rewards your soul, making him a must-see artist.

Les Thomas sets his lyricism to the sounds of country-folk and Americana while drawing inspiration from the likes of Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and Steve Earle as well as local legends like Archie Roach, Kev Carmody and Paul Kelly.
Coming from a culturally and racially diverse family background, and with decades of grass-roots activism as a unionist and social justice advocate, Les has a strong and direct connection to his community in Naarm/Melbourne and beyond.

His music has always been in solidarity with the oppressed, refugees, migrants, dispossessed, socially excluded and marginalised peoples and a good proportion of his live performances have been at rallies, picket lines and on the back of trucks at protests.
Over the years, Les has also shared a lot of music writing and interviewing, helping to promote local artists via the Unpaved website and songwriter sessions at The Old Bar and POME Richmond which got to feature people like Liz Stinger, Marlon Williams, Courtney Barnett, Van Walker and many others. He’s interviewed a wide variety of local and international artists including Steve Earle, Jason Isbell, David Bromberg, Eric Bibb and Valerie June.

His debut single ‘Song for Selva’ is based on a letter from a Tamil asylum seeker who had been detained without charge for 37 months. After strong community radio support for the song in the first week after its release, Selva was removed from Broadmeadows detention centre into “community detention”.
Les is preparing to release his new album “All My Friends Are Superstars” in September 2023 with production by Stephen Grady (The Ahern Brothers). He’ll be touring and promoting the album extensively over the following months and into 2024.

Support will be from Bradley Christmas of Sydney Alt country act “Copperline” who will also join Les on keys, for a one off unique show in the Blue Mountains.
Since cutting his teeth in the 90’s with prog rockers Arkenstone, Brad’s musical journey has taken him in some weird and wonderful directions. He’s been a hired toured gun for Steve Kilby (the Church), Jeff Duff and Peter Fenton (Crow) and spent many years living and playing music in the U.K. and Japan, where he wrote and performed music for TV with the likes of Orlando Bloom and Marty Friedman (Megadeth).
With his latest project Copperline, Brad has indulged his life-long passion for classic narrative song writing, Americana and twang. Since cutting his teeth in the 90’s with prog rockers Arkenstone, Brad’s musical journey has taken him in some weird and wonderful directions. He’s been a hired toured gun for Steve Kilby (the Church), Jeff Duff and Peter Fenton (Crow) and spent many years living and playing music in the U.K. and Japan, where he wrote and performed music for TV with the likes of Orlando Bloom and Marty Friedman (Megadeth).
With his latest project Copperline, Brad has indulged his life-long passion for classic narrative song writing, Americana and twang. Isabel Rumble invites listeners into a cocoon of reflection on the subtleties of love, nature and human relationships. Drawing upon a strong folk roots influence, Rumble offers a contemporary sound likened to Laura Marling and Mazzy Star. Isabel’s intuitively crafted songs define an observant and soul-stirring emerging young artist.

Growing up on Yuin country on the far south coast of NSW gifted Isabel with a strong connection to the land, a theme returned to often in her songwriting. After a period of study in Naarm/Melbourne, Isabel has since lived beside Austrian alps, amongst Finnish forests and in the German countryside. She currently resides at the foot of the ancient mountain Kunanyi in Nipaluna/Hobart.|

Isabel has opened for the likes of acclaimed folk duo Lior & Domini, guitar virtuoso Daniel Champagne, and New Zealand’s Holly Arrowsmith. She has played at festivals including Cygnet Folk Festival, Party in the Paddock, Cobargo Folk Festival, PANAMA, Dark Mofo and Junction Arts Festival. Isabel was selected from over 400 applicants to partake in the 2023 Women in Music Mentor program through AIR (Australian Independent Record Labels Association).

Following her emergence into the Australian music scene last year with standout singles Precious Burden and Solitary Dreaming, Rumble has seen widespread national and community radio play and a run of sold out shows in Victoria and Tasmania. Isabel’s debut album Bird Be Brave was released March 31st. Recorded with Tasmanian producer Luke Plumb (The Mae Trio, Ruth Hazleton) the full length album is a powerful debut from one of Australia’s newest contemporary-folk voices.

Singer/songwriter and Guitarist Chris Carrapetta is a former Blue Mountains resident now residing in Sydney.
Chris was influenced from a young age by Folk Rock Legend Neil Young and a steady diet of Alternative Country and Americana music.

Singer songwriter Jack Nolan has been performing and releasing music and albums since the mid 1990’s. Along with a five-album solo catalogue Jack also fronted The Kelly Gang, with Rick Grossman, bassist for The Divinyls and Hoodoo Gurus along with Midnight Oil drummer Rob Hirst and guitar player Martin Rotsey. Their 2004 album ‘Looking for the Sun’ is still considered a hidden gem, with an incredible line-up of musicians that delivered passionate and energetic live shows of the time.

Within Nolan’s music, mysterious and shimmering chords unite his sound. Once quaintly described as ‘Darlinghurst Country’ his sound unites elements of folk, country, rock ‘n’ roll and ambient atmospheres fusing Nolan’s passion for intensely charged electric guitar and finger-picked acoustic guitar.
Jack’s melodic story telling has him right at home performing either solo with just an acoustic guitar or fronting his four piece band.

Jack’s next offering – JINDABYNE – his next LP is set for release in August 2023 sees Nolan hit the road to visit the towns the towns and regions to perform with versatility, either solo, or as a due, trio or full band.
Jack will be performing on the evening with fellow musician Travis New.

Darren “D.C” Cross (Gerling, Jep and Dep) is an Australian guitarist and storyteller, just off the back of supporting Ed Kuepper and Jim White, Mess-esque, JIm White and Marisa Anderson, The Apartments and Ryley Walker, Darren is psyched to return to the Blue Mountains.

Cross’ music is inspired by the 1960’s and 1970’s mainstays of American and British acoustic guitar (John Fahey, Roy Harper, Leo Kottke, Elizabeth Cotton, Nick Drake, Bert Jansch) but he is consciously forging his own musical identity within an Australian landscape.

Darren has just released his third solo D.C Cross album ‘Hot-wire the Lay-low (Australian Escapist pieces for guitar) which was written in and inspired by rural N.S.W.

Cross has been creating music for the last 25 years, from Gerling to Jep and Dep, and has written songs with Kool Keith and Kylie Minogue. He has played shows with artists ranging from Beastie Boys, Beck, and Happy Monday to Johnny Marr, Courtney Barnett and, Ryley Walker.

Fiercely independent, totally devoted, loves telling a story and is always threatening to conquer up something magical with the guitar.

Restless, creative, prolific and willing to grow up in public, Richard Lawson has never shied away from exploring the outer reaches in his musical quest.
From the farthest strains of banjo driven rustic folk to the cutting edge of Cubase driven electronic synth pop his overriding love of melody, rhythm and harmony has crowned his output of 6 LPs and 6 EPs and soundtrack work in the times since the demise of the ‘Lime Spiders’.

Now there is a new LP of ‘Music at Night; Selected Ambient Works 1994-2014’ being released November 2022 including 6 re-workings and 6 unreleased songs of which the first single ‘Firefly’ is set for a September 1 release. The album will also be available as a CD at shows and on Bandcamp as well as the usual streaming platforms .

Richard is the triple ARIA nominated former drummer for Aust Punk rock legends The Lime Spiders and is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and teacher of over 300 students since leaving the band and has explored all musical possibilities from 70’s Art Rock, Folk to Electronica and Ambient/Classical crossover including soundtrack work.
Richard has been performing and touring regularly on the South Coast of NSW and plans are also under way for his works to be scored, performed and recorded by the esteemed classical ensemble ‘The Acacia Quartet’ later this year, with applications to several major classical music festivals in the pipeline.

‘Music at Night; Selected Ambient Works’ will be available November 2022 and the first single ‘Firefly’ is available September 1 on Spotify/YouTube/Apple music.
